First visit to Andre’s Restaurant, Sparta, NJ

Having grown up in the Riverdale / Kinnelon area we never really ventured much outside of Morris County to dine until we moved to Sussex County and found that we needed to travel in order to find the elegant dining experiences we were looking forward to.  Having worked in the Morristown area for many years, we both have found ourselves over the last several years working and dining in the Sparta area much more frequently.  Our friend Chef Ken Salmon owned and ran Upstream Grille for 3.5 years in Lake Hopatcong and it was our place.  We got married there and we were very loyal to Ken.  He is an amazing…

The Thrill and Honor of Officiating a Wedding for your Friends

I recently had the honor, for the second time, serving as the Officiant for a friend’s wedding.  Having now performed my second Wedding Ceremony I have to say what a Thrill and Honor it was.  I’ve known Rich for about 8 years and have spent the last several years getting to know his now-wife Sharon.  I was absolutely thrilled when they asked me last year if I would officiate their wedding in April of 2018.  I have been an ordained Minister of the Universal Life Church since 2013 and also had the pleasure of marrying our friends Phil and Kristi in October of 2014. So why get ordained?  I kind of…

As I mentioned, proper nutrition has a tremendous amount to do with increasing your fat burning…

How you can help fight hunger in America

Hunger or “Food Insecurity” as the USDA defines it, is the lack of access to enough food for a person or all of the people in a household. In the United States, hunger isn’t caused by a lack of available food like in other countries, but rather the continued prevalence of poverty or people earning below a living wage.  A whopping 17% of Americans face hunger every day.  That equates to 1 in 6 people but it is so much more steep for children which is 1 in 5 and even steeper for minorities.  Imagine if you regrouped every household in America to consist of a Mother, Father and 4…

Before you go Calling Yourself a Foodie

Let’s hold up there a minute before you go calling yourself a Foodie. Just because you hit every food truck at the Beer-Fest doesn’t make you a Foodie. There is a standard that goes with that Foodie title and we need to uphold that standard. Let’s be real… Most everyone likes to eat. We all love food! Our lives revolve around food. So you and your friends are socializing around food and you snap a couple pictures with your phone’s camera and Hash Tag #FoodPorn all over Instagram and Facebook for your friends who couldn’t make it.  Now you’re a Foodie?  I don’t think so.  This is more than likely…
